Protecting Clean Water and Public Health

Without a doubt, water has played a defining role in the lifestyles and economies of the western United States.

Water quality and availability is the foundation for our agricultural heritage, supporting clean and healthy habitats for countless wildlife species. That’s why WGM Group is focused on helping our clients and communities conserve and protect this precious resource for future generations.

As we approach another Montana spring and the seasonal snow melt runoff to follow, we want to share some of WGM Group’s best practices for water resource planning and management. The first recommendation is to get a clear sense of current water conditions and how they’re impacted by natural and manmade forces. Water analysis and flow modeling provide a clear baseline for resource planning and any future development.

Groundwater Water Quality Testing and Monitoring is Key for Clean Drinking Water.

WGM Group’s Groundwater Hydrology experts have decades of experience in the development, management and protection of groundwater resources. We work closely with clients to design and implement high performance monitoring systems that best fit their property and project budget. Our process includes the selection and procurement of instrumentation that provides the most accurate water quality testing available, so we know we’re getting a clear picture of seasonal fluctuations and any possible external contamination.

Our groundwater modeling specialists provide well water testing for individuals, municipalities, and commercial developers. Our clients rest easy knowing they have clean drinking water flowing through the faucet.

Surface Water Hydrology Allows for Better Community Planning.

As our western communities grow, stormwater management and a better understanding of surface water movement is becoming increasingly important. WGM Group works with clients in order to protect our streams, rivers, and wetlands with thoughtful planning and sustainable infrastructure design. Projects range in scope from planning and analysis on the watershed level, to the design and implementation of wastewater management measures to meet water quality goals.

Last year we welcomed Chris Allen to our Bozeman office in order to add his expertise in biological wastewater treatment wetlands to our slate of offerings. These unique systems use strategic vegetation plantings and stratified ground layers to naturally filter out contaminants in areas where a tie-in to municipal wastewater systems is difficult and expensive. The pilot project he designed at Bridger Bowl Ski Area now helps a growing ski resort stay ahead of the wastewater management curve.

Understanding the Big Picture of Water Dynamics Protects People and Wildlife.

In recent years we’ve seen rapid snowmelt lead to major flooding right in our own backyard in Montana – and major flooding events have wreaked havoc in the Midwest. But there are measures we can collectively take to minimize the impacts on our communities and environment. The hydrological surveying and 2D models our teams develop provide an in depth understanding of how water will behave in a storm surge, ,allow for better flood prediction, and provide better insight into prevention measures.

WGM Groupis a team of people who are passionate about protecting our natural surroundings and conserving wildlife, so we’re proud to use our water modeling expertise to protect and restore habitat. Designing infrastructure that allows for wildlife crossing ensures migration corridors remain intact, and conditions like water temperature remain safe for fish and other aquatic species.
