A look at some of WGM's women in power
As March, Women’s History Month, draws to an end, we’d like to highlight the accomplishments of some of the trailblazing women who lead our company.
Let us first introduce you to Chief Human Resource Officer Amy Ward. Amy is a SHRM Certified Professional and is an Associate Certified Coach who came to WGM nearly two years ago from the health care human resources world. She founded her leadership coaching enterprise Peace by Piece Empowerment Coaching in 2013 and has helped dozens of people develop their leadership skills. Amy is a volunteer ESL tutor with the refugee relocation program and enjoys the outdoors, refinishing wood furniture, traveling and discovering new places.
Amy believes the health of a community is strongly impacted by the experience of employees, customers, and stakeholders through local companies. A north star for any size company is stated well in the book, Firms of Endearment, "companies … should consciously shape their cultures around the idea that we are here to help others live their lives with greater satisfaction, to spread joy and well-being, to elevate and educate, and to help employees and customers fulfill their natural potential."
Next up is one of our co-CEOs, Melissa Matassa-Stone, P.E. Melissa is a Principal Engineer at WGM with a background in civil and environmental engineering. A Florida native, she came to WGM in 2005 by way of Tennessee and Washington after earning her undergrad degree from Georgia Tech. Melissa is known around the office as an exceptional communicator with extensive skills in water resources, permitting, and NEPA/MEPA analysis.
Outside of work, you’ll find supermom Melissa carting around her kids on various outdoor adventures, or training for her next half marathon. She also volunteers as the United Way of Missoula County Board President and serves on the board of directors of both Climate Smart Missoula and the Montana Chapter of the American Council of Engineering Companies.
We culminate our short highlight of some of the trailblazing women leaders at WGM with a look at our Chief Financial Officer Miranda Ming. Miranda joined WGM five years ago and has navigated our finances through countless changes and new leadership. She moved into this role after many years as a tax accountant.
Miranda was born and raised in Missoula, and continues to support its local scene. She is on the board of the YWCA, is a member of PowerHouse Montana and the Missoula Businesswomen's Network, and volunteers with Run Wild Missoula. She is an avid runner and loves hiking, paddle boarding, camping, and traveling.
