This project is being funded by Miller Creek Transportation Mitigation Fees.  These fees are collected from new developments by the County to fund road improvements in the Miller Creek area.  The City and County are working together to improve the road from Briggs Street to Mockingbird Way, including a roundabout intersection at the Wye.

 

At the same time, several other related projects are being planned or constructed:

  • A sewer extension project is under construction between Briggs and Hwy 93.  This project provides needed upgrades to the existing City sewer system, and is expected to be complete this spring.  Contact Gilbert Larson with PCI at 728-1880 with questions.
  • The Montana Department of Transportation plans to mill and overlay Hwy 93 this spring.  Call 523-5800 with questions.
  • The Miller Creek Road Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) is now available for public comment.  This document is being prepared by the Federal Highway Administration, and analyzes many different alternatives for transportation improvements in the vicinity of Miller Creek Road to determine the most efficient transportation routes.  Log on to www.millereis.com for more information.

WGM Admin The City of Missoula plans to reconstruct Miller Creek Road from Briggs Street to Mockingbird Way, and approximately 500 feet west of the wye on Lower Miller Creek Road. The design includes sidewalks, boulevards, landscaping, curb and gutter, bike lanes, new pavement, and intersection improvements at Briggs and at the wye. The intersection improvements at the wye include a modern roundabout. Assuming a seven-month process for right-of-way acquisition, the project could be ready to bid in the fall of 2008, with a likely construction start in spring of 2009.
