Welcome to WGM Group. We are planners, engineers and surveyors working together to build better communities, safer roads
and healthier places to live, work and play in the Rocky Mountain west. Our clients are governments and citizens, public
and private companies, concerns large and small who share at least one common goal - the desire to complete
their projects with excellence and efficiency. Our ability to deliver successful projects is what sets us apart.
At WGM Group, the process is the product.

Missoula Downtown Master Plan - Infrastructure Elements

| | Comments (0)
street_lighting.jpgMissoula's infrastructure is aging. Most of the downtown area was built during the 1950's and 60's, and is in need of improvement. Poor lighting, antiquated traffic signals, poor access and circulation, and the need for more parking topped the list of downtown infrastructure needs. A 20-year master plan has been produced through the efforts of the Missoula Downtown Business Improvement District, Missoula Parking Commission and private sector donors.

Through a group effort and Crandall Arambula, a team of professional planning consultants from Portland, Oregon, a visioning process will shape the future of Downtown Missoula, and give us a clear understanding of how to accomplish the goals this community sets for our Downtown. The Greater Downtown Master Plan vision is to create a broadly accepted guiding tool that ensures the long term health, character and vitality of our central city.

WGM Group has participated in this visioning process from the beginning, and produced the Missoula Greater Downtown Master Plan - Infrastructure Elements final report. This report builds on the previous infrastructure recommendations given in the 2005 Downtown Streets Project Report. This document provides the following analysis and information:

  • Downtown Missoula Access and Circulation
  • Public Infrastructure
  • Clark Fork Revitalization Project

It also offers infrastructure maps, such as sewers and storm drainage. There's a detailed recommendation project list covering items, such as transportation, sanitary sewer, storm drainage, and parking. Another section offers project elements for the Clark Fork Revitalization Project to help restore riverbanks, provide community trails and re-plant riparian vegetation to name a few.

Projects, such as the

Clark Fork Restoration Project (shown top)

will help fix river banks and create trails along the river.
